Featured Donation Sites:
Deseret Industries Thrift Shop has locations in Mesa, Glendale, and Tucson that provide jobs for many in need, and they are generous in what they accept. Like Goodwill, they take almost anything as their processing centers allow them to sell items by the pound or recycle them.
Variety of Items
Goodwill is on the nearest corner, and is one of the few stores who accepts mattresses and children’s car seats along with everything else. They do not balk at items that may need to go straight to recycling (or the trash). They also have Redesign by Goodwill stores for furniture and home décor. Pick-up’s available.

St. Vincent de Paul is a general thrift shop with seven locations in the Valley and ten more in greater Arizona. Calling 602-266-4673 for a pick up can be quicker than registering on the website for a pick up.

Sunshine Acres Children’s Home in Mesa has both a general thrift shop and an upscale bazaar that support their 60 year-old home for children. All types of items are accepted including clothing, shoes, handbags, jewelry, furniture, books, home décor, and appliances. Treasures 4 Teachers Thrift Shop is T4T’s new boutique right next to the store for teachers. They accept a variety of items for their cute store and the benefits go to Treasures 4 Teachers. What they can not use, they send to Sunshine Acres. They are at 3025 S. 48th St., Suite 102, Tempe 85282 and can be reached at 480-773-6856.

Friends of (Your City’s) Library is an option for book and magazine donations. Most cities have a nonprofit organization associated with their library that accepts books and other reading material. These items either get sold to support the library or are actually placed on the shelves. Look up the city of interest for further information.

NSA (Volunteer-Nonprofit Service Association) collects books and magazines. Their annual sale is famous, with the proceeds benefitting the Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation and Literacy Volunteers of Maricopa County. Treasures 4 Teachers collects books and all types of resources for educators. Children’s books K-12 and teaching materials are accepted, as well as books teachers might enjoy for pleasure reading. Drop off items go to 3025 S. 48th St., Suite 101 in Tempe, 85282, or call 480-751-1122 for a pick up of 20 boxes or more. For more info on items wanted, visit their website.
Books and Educational Resources
AZ StRUT (Arizona Students Recycling Used Technology) is a nonprofit which accepts almost all electronic equipment at five collection sites throughout the valley. The equipment is then refurbished or recycled by high school students and donated to Arizona schools and nonprofits. StRUT secures hard drives with a drive wipe process. For donation information and drop-off sites visit their website. The site also has additional info on other avenues for recycling electronic equipment. Company donations welcome, and pick-up’s available.
Electronics
The Bra Recyclers accepts bras and other lingerie, as well as mastectomy bras and prostheses. Bra Recyclers is a for-profit textile recycling company that supports nonprofits by providing them with these items. Fill out the donation form available on their website and then mail or deliver them to 3317 S. Higley Road, Ste. 114-441, Gilbert, 85297

Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Central Arizona collects clothing and household items which they sell to local Savers thrift stores. Donations are accepted at Savers, bins around town, or can be picked up. They also accept vehicle donations as well as electronics, both of which get sold to raise funds. Dress for Success is a nonprofit working to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire, and development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. Drop-off locations for clothing, shoes, and accessories may be found on their website or 602-489-7397.

The Cinderella Affair provides high school junior and seniors new and gently-used formal wear absolutely free, helping them to make prom an affordable and memorable event. They accept dresses, dress shoes, handbags, and costume jewelry during the annual drive in February. Donations may be taken to their boutique in Chandler or dropped off at sites posted on their website every January.

Soles 4 Souls is an international organization based in Tennessee which creates sustainable jobs and provides relief through the distribution of shoes and clothing around the world. Information on where to donate shoes, based on the number of shoes, may be found on their website.

Flo’s on 7th is located in the Melrose District of Phoenix and benefits Florence Crittenton’s services for young women in Arizona. They appreciate and have special sections for donations from designers. A Program Wish List can also be found at www.flocrit.org/program-wish-lists They will pick up large items. 602-254-7861.

Habitat for Humanity Re-Stores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donations centers that sell new and gently used furniture, home accessories, building materials and more in support of the greater mission of Habitat for Humanity. They accept donations from individuals and companies, with stores varying in what they accept. Pick-up’s are available.
Furniture, home items, and building material
The First Tee of Phoenix welcomes donations of new and “good-as-new” golf equipment. Their mission is to positively impact the lives of Maricopa County young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values, and promote healthy choices through the game of golf. Donations are accepted at the Phoenix office or at one of 15 cooperating facilities. For more info, call 602-305-7655 or visit their website.

Infinite Finds is an upscale resale shop in Cave Creek accepting donations of home furnishings and accessories. The proceeds benefit senior citizens needing financial resources between the tie they are discharged from a medical facility and their receiving state assistance. They are located at 6528 E. Tina’s Treasures Cancer Care Boutique is a nonprofit serving women with cancer. They accept donations of breast prostheses, mastectomy bras and bathing suits, wigs, scarves, and hats. Located on the first floor of the HonorHealth Scottsdale Shea Medical Center at 10460 N. 92nd St. Scottsdale, 85258, their phone is 480-323-1990
Items for Women with Cancer
White Dove Thrift Shoppe benefits Hospice of the Valley and has four locations in the Valley. They take medical equipment and nicer items but no children’s toys, strollers, car seats, or mattresses. Pick up only of furniture or large items. 602-274-3683.

Project C.U.R.E. accepts donations of medical supplies and equipment and delivers them to resource-limited communities in the U.S. and globally. From cotton balls to operating tables, this nonprofit accepts donations and ships them where they are most needed. The local site is at 2100 W. 14th St. T3, Tempe, 85281. Medical Supplies & Equipment
Senior centers and hospices often set up lending closets for wheelchairs, walkers, canes, crutches, shower chairs, and similar items. This is a great resource when someone is recovering from surgery or a relative is visiting and an item is needed for a short time. Contact the senior center or hospice nearest you for details on what they accept or visit the Southwest Lending Closet website to view their operating hours and the items they can accept.
Medical Equipment and Medical Home Products
Arizona Animal Welfare League (AAWL) is Arizona’s oldest and largest no-kill shelter located at 25 N. 40th St., Phoenix, 85034. They have a wish list on their website which is updated frequently. Generally, they are in need of food, towels, collars, litter boxes and clay litter, scoops, and general supplies for the shelter such as trash bags, batteries, and office supplies. Arizona Humane Society accepts donations of pet food and pet items for their shelters as well as general items for their three thrift shops in Mesa, Cave Creek, and Sunnyslope. Free pick up of your car, boat, or thrift shop donations is available. For more info, go to their website or schedule a pick up at 602-997-7585 X 2035
Pet Food & Supplies
HALO (Helping Animals Live On) Animal Rescue is a no-kill animal shelter in Phoenix at 3227 E. Bell Rd., 85032, accepting donations for their shelter including food, litter, beds, and more. They also accept vehicle donations and have a thrift shop boutique in Cave Creek with women clothing and home furnishings. Pet Food & Supplies
Maricopa County Animal Care and Control (MCACC) accepts in-kind donations which go directly to the care of the animals in their shelters. Take donations such as towels, blankets, beds, food, litter, toys, and more to any location, found on their website
Pet Food & Supplies
Pet Food Pantries supply senior citizens, veterans, and families in need with pet food and supplies to help keep pets and their families together. They are best contacted through their websites as many are operated out of homes. Pet food may also be donated to food pantries for people as many distribute pet food to families. Four of the pet food pantries are listed:
- Arizona Pet Pantry serves Southern Arizona and supplies pet food for seniors 62 and older.
- Cause 4 Paws Pet Food Pantry provides pet food for seniors and veterans in Maricopa County. They can accept unopened, new, and not expired food.
- Chuck Waggin Pet Food Pantry has five drop off locations in Phoenix and Tempe and do accept open bags and food expired within a year.
