Chapter Meeting – Aunt Chilada’s
February 13 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm$25.00
Join us for our monthly NAPO-AZ member meeting on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at Aunt Chilada’s.
How to Deal With Difficult Client Situations
Trauma affects more that 50% of the population. Whether it is a car accident, divorce, or childhood abuse, our brains are affected and respond to the trauma in some predictable ways. While reactions to trauma can vary widely, and not everyone will develop Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), trauma can change the brain in some predictable ways that organizers should be aware of. This is especially true if you are working with someone who is struggling to cope after trauma.
We have all seen examples of what can happen to an individual’s world after a traumatic experience – a death, illness, loss of a job, etc. Lori will help us see how we can work with clients who have experienced these events and help right their world again.
During this presentation organizers will learn the basic brain reactions to trauma and then learn some tools to help us work with our clients. The tools and exercises will include information about:
- Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) Evidence based thought record
- The Container Exercise
- Three-minute meditations
- Emotional regulation exercises
Trauma can affect our entire person including the responses of our clients in their daily lives. Organizers can run into clients at all stages of recovery from trauma. After this presentation, NAPO-AZ organizers will have additional skills to better assist their clients on the front lines.
You will receive one CEU (Continuing Education Unit) through NAPO-AZ for this fun and informative session.
